Positive reinforcement training encourages your dog to learn and creates a relationship of mutual respect between you and your canine companion. Learn the basics of dog manners, including cues such as sit, stay, down and how to manage behaviors such as jumping and leash pulling. This class uses positive reinforcement, reward-based training with treats and praise. Bring a leash (4 ft or 6 ft, no extendable leashes, harness is preferred, flat collar accepted), lots of soft treats, poo bags and your dog’s current vaccination records; dogs must be current on vaccines. Please wear comfortable, weather appropriate clothes and shoes. You will go home with a complete training book, whistle, and a clicker. Appropriate for dogs 10 weeks and up. If your dog has displayed any aggressive, reactive, or extreme fear behavior with other dogs or people call The Focused Fido at 719-431-3102 before signing up. $10 supply fee payable to instructor at the first class. Appropriate for 18 and up, accompanied minors are accepted. Registration is limited to two people per dog, with the same person attending all sessions. First session is an orientation for people only, no dogs. All persons who attend the class must be registered through San Juan College. As an off-campus class, both SJC and NM Public Health Guidelines will be followed. 6 hrs
