San Juan College - Community Enrichment

Surprising Biology (ages 10-14)

Class is canceled

Science surprises us all the time! Come learn about the hidden secrets and explanations surrounding the surprising side of biology. This class continues the Surprising Science theme and raises the bar for the older student. This class explores the science of human, animal, and plant life through experiments, games and demonstrations. Satisfy science-hungry students and take away exciting and original ideas for science fair too. Dig deeper into the mysteries of how plants and animals survive and interact in the natural world, build a small plant-press and dissect a flower, culture bacteria from a cell phone, and measure your lung capacity. Be sure to bring a journal to keep track of our experiments, new vocabulary, and data. An $10 supply fee payable to instructor at the first class covers the supplies for these experiments and projects. 16 hrs
(no class 9/5 & 10/17)

MARK EVERSON has a Masters of Education from UNM, in addition to a Master’s degree in Environmental Education and Forest Resources. He has over 20 years of experience teaching science and judging science fairs.
