SharQui (pronounced Shar-Kee’) is not a traditional belly dance class, but a fitness class with authentic belly dance moves that are simplified then gradually layered together until you’re dancing a belly dance routine. Class starts with a gentle warm up, moving into low-impact belly dance cardio, and ends with a relaxing stretch. This is for everyone who wants fitness and fun in their workout. No dance experience is needed and you can take it at your own pace. Strengthen your core, build stamina, have fun, and feel fabulous!

Fiber Arts Lab: Bring Your Projects!

It’s time to get assistance with crochet, knit, tablet weaving, bobbin lace, embroidery or any other needle art project. Bring a project you just can’t seem to finish— or get started on those favorite gifts. For those who have always wanted to learn how to crochet, the time is now, with hands-on-instruction. Beginners will learn basic stitches and finish a scarf. Bring size 4 light color crochet yarn (not variegated or multi-colored) size G, H, or I crochet hook (with a wooden or rubber handle), small scissors and knitting needle size 8. Appropriate for ages 15 and up (10 and up welcome with an accompanying adult).

Staying Found – Using a GPS, Map & Compass

The great outdoors is calling—will you be able to find your way home? In this hands-on course, you’ll learn essential navigation skills using maps, compasses, and GPS devices so you can confidently travel through unfamiliar terrain. Discover how to: • Read and interpret topographic maps • Use a compass to determine direction and bearings • Calculate distance and estimated travel time • Identify landmarks and using GPS coordinates • Understand terrain features • And if you are temporarily misplaced, what to do. There will also be in-class and outside practice to try out your new skills. Whether you’re hiking, camping, hunting, or just love exploring nature (kids included!), this course equips you with the knowledge to stay found—or get un-lost—no matter where adventure leads. Bring your ‘orienteering’ compass and GPSs.
